Like Alice stumbling, falling into the rabbit hole.
The day she met him - truly met him, whole and bare and uncompromised, for the very first time - the world was in flames. It was as if the white rabbit was dragging her into a world of chaos, filled to the brim with public property destruction and collateral damage.
At the center of it all: her Mad Hatter. With his obsessively desired cold version of tea. And his insane tea party crashed by every single inpatient in this asylum of his life. So she observed, sitting on the other end of the table, the outsider and the special guest. In equal parts wonderment and disillusionment; unimpressed.
There was value in him. But deep inside. Inherent. Not ranked against the world by basis of how attractive or financially secure or how powerful his arsenal was. The adventure, the craziness, chaos, all those that exploded, that clashed, that rained in color was one small thing. The tip of the iceberg. Perhaps it made him quite the charmer on the outside for everyone else.
Here she was: Alice. Cascading, plummeting past rocks, past darkness - there was a lot of hurt in that rabbit hole and a lot of fortifying experience - past the shields that covered his eyes, past the ten. There she would be at his very core. Surrounded by the sea of insanity, he was in fact the frighteningly sanest thing amidst all of it. Filled with a grounded sense of humanity and vulnerability.
As Alice, he needed her. The only one not blinded by the excitement. The only one who would stay after the party. The only one who would, in the unbalancing quiet, help pick up the broken pieces of china from the insanity that transpired before.
…you’re the only person in my life, besides them, who isn’t impressed by all the other stuff. You know the real me, faults and all. And that’s okay with you…

EDIT: So, I finally finished this one. And the fun part is: I used something else other than the usual Faber Castell and Prismacolor colored pencils. The background was painted with watercolor and the strange blotted effect was created by dabbing isopropyl alcohol in certain sections to repel the paint. Enjoy!
I love the movement and color choices for this.. the composition makes every element stand oUT AND WELL DONE!! PERFECTLY DONE! OMG YOU FLAWLESS BEYZING PERSON AS ALWAYS!
Thank you! I've been trying to get a technique that really makes it look as trippy and chaotic as Wonderland is, and I managed to stumble into a watercolor technique tutorial that looked amazing. I'm so happy with it. I might spam that technique now on my other works.
